Why can't I get satellites or see a timing reference from my GPS receiver connected to the NetTek Y400?

Question :

Why can't I get satellites or see a timing reference from my GPS receiver connected to the NetTek Y400?

Answer :

The Tektronix YBGPS1 is the GPS receiver required to obtain timing information for the YBT250 on the NetTek. It requires connections to the USB port on the Y400 for its power, it requires the RS-232 connection for data transfer, and it requires the BNC connection to the Timing Input on the YBT250 for the benefit of improved frequency
accuracy and precise timing for PN offsets. Finally, make sure that in the GPS menu, you have selected the Tek GPS Timing Ref as your GPS receiver to obtain the full benefit of improved timing and enhanced frequency accuracy.

Now with the GPS antenna connected to the YBGPS1 and a clear visual path to the sky for the satellites, you should see
the GPS satellites signal strength start to appear and finally lock. This may take several minutes, depending on how long
it has been since the receiver was last used.
