質問:

When producing in digital and using the Arrowhead display+ is it possible to create a signal that is outside of the RGB Diamond display?

回答:

This can happen if you have created a signal that has at least one RGB component (probably close to green and far from yellow) that is over 100% amplitude or, worse, negative. If it is below the diamonds on the Diamond display it is, by definition, blacker than black, and is only visible on your RGB monitor because of the black level setting and internal processing. Don't expect it too look the same on another monitor. If it is above the diamonds (over 100%) then you run the risk of that component getting clipped or limited. Yes, it's true that the HP QA100 and Tektronix Arrowhead display are telling you that this may not occur until final display, since the composite NTSC or PAL signal processing will carry the signal all the way to the display decoder. But, how do you know how far you can go over 100% and still guarantee that RGB clipping hasn't occurred and the hue and saturation are shifted? Remember that TV sets are not set up and calibrated with decoded RGB values over 100%.
