Practical Approaches to Fuel Cell Characterization

Designing and manufacturing quality fuel cells requires characterizing the device and testing device performance.

Get tips straight from our Lead Applications Engineer, Jarod Todd, on:

  • Simplified performance and durability testing
  • How to increase your testing flexibility
  • Issues that can affect results
  • How to get more power in less space

In this session, you will learn how to characterize and test fuel cells more completely and discover considerations regarding durability, degradation, regenerative energy recovery, power optimization, and more.

EA-EL/ELR Electronic Loads

The EA electronic loads and regenerative electronic loads bring a host of capabilities and efficiencies to your application. Regenerative loads recover energy and feed it back into the grid with >96% efficiency as well as reduce heat, noise and HVAC costs, making them cost-effective and environmentally friendly. True autoranging allows the sinking of maximum power along a wider range of voltage and current values while a suite of optional control interfaces allow computer control in near any manufacturing environment.

These DC electronic loads feature high power density and input power ratings ranging from 1500W to 30kW with a maximum of 2000VDC. They come standard with a built-in function generator capable of creating arbitrary waveforms for dynamic testing of sources. The regenerative loads can be easily paralleled in racks to achieve 3.84MW of power.

EA-PSB Bidirectional Power Supplies

The EA 20000 Series and 10000 Series bidirectional DC power supplies bring a host of capabilities and efficiencies. Bidirectional regenerative supplies are more cost-effective and environmentally friendly because they recover energy and feed it back into the grid with >96% efficiency to reduce heat, noise and HVAC costs. True autoranging delivers maximum power across a wider range of voltage and current values while a suite of optional control interfaces enables computer control in near any manufacturing environment.
20000 Series models offer 3 independent channels, fast 1ms response times, and integrated safety sense functionality for sensitive applications. EA supplies can parallel easily up to 3.84MW in output power, at up to 2000VDC. They come standard with a built-in function generator capable of creating arbitrary waveforms, included test routines for battery test, fuel cell simulation, PV solar array simulation with MPP tracking, and more.
