Question :
I'm measuring Rj+Dj on a bit pattern that is 8 bits into an a 10b decoder+ so the pattern is 10 times 8 bits (256) at some data rate. What pattern length should be set in the software to recognize the proper pattern?
Answer :
If you don't know the pattern length of your data you can use two methods; 1) Set the RjDj pattern length to 2, and check how far off the clock period is, and increase the PL number until the clock period matches. 2) Capture the serial bit stream then use the scope application zoom and cursors to locate and measure the pattern repeat rate. Calculate the pattern length = repeat rate X data rate.
