Question :
What Non Volatile Memory devices are contained in the DG2000 series data generator and what is the best way to clear the pattern memory?
Answer :
The DG series data generators do not have a hard drive so no special procedures are needed to secure a HDD. They do have a floppy. The DG2020A has 64k per channel (up to 36 channels) of NVM user defined pattern memory. The DG2030 (up to 8 channels) and DG2040 (two complimentary pairs) each has 256k of pattern memory. This pattern memory can be cleared out by performing a simple operation called "Security Immediate" in all three instruments.
This operation is documented and can be found in each of the DG user manuals by looking up "Security Immediate" in the index. To clear out the pattern memory, perform the following steps: First, select the Utility menu button. Then push the System button at the bottom of the display. Last step is, push the "Security Immediate" button on the upper right portion of the display. Once you confirm you want factory defaults all NVM will be cleared out.
