What does the 80A01 do?

80A01 amplifies the signal going to the Prescaler trigger input. It amplifies a 200mV (or larger signal) to 1.1Vp-p. This is sufficient amplitude for the Prescaler trigger input, which enables the trigger circuit to provide a good trigger to enable the acquisition and display of a high frequency signal.
