Shouldn't the Tektronix Diamond display allow some small overdrive?

Question :

Shouldn't the Tektronix Diamond display allow some small overdrive?

Answer :

Some over-limit margin is built into this detection. The Gamut-limit detectors and Diamond display low-pass filter horizontal transients to about 1.5 MHz to allow for transient signal limit violations like those that are fundamental to transcoding from the non-equiband 4:2:2 system. Also, the Gamut-limit detectors usually have a selectable margin (typically 5%) of over limit before detection. However, no similar low-pass vertical filter is used and high vertical spatial frequencies (single line transition or 4:2:0 processing) that exceed the over limit margin are detected.
