How many harmonics are included in a distortion measurement?

Question :

How many harmonics are included in a distortion measurement?

Answer :

The user can select 2 - 64 harmonics to be included in the distortion measurement. Including a higher number of harmonics adds more distortion factors in the measurement at the expense of measurement speed.

The sampling bandwidth of the Model 2015 is 50kHz; therefore, the number of harmonics actually available depends on the frequency of the fundamental. For example, if the fundamental frequency of the input signal is 10kHz, then only 5 harmonics can be computed (10kHz, 20kHz, 30kHz, 40kHz, and 50kHz). When the signal's fundamental frequency is 1kHz, 50 harmonics can be computed. In most production test applications, 10 harmonics are more than sufficient.
