How does base address relate to Input/Output (I/O) reported by Device Manager?

Question :

How does base address relate to Input/Output (I/O) reported by Device Manager?

Answer :

They are nearly the same. Device Manager reports I/O in hexidecimal format. A data acquisition board that has its base address set for a value of 300 will use I/O address 300. But data acquisition boards rarely use only one I/O address. A high end board such as the DAS-1800 will often require a total of 16 consecutive I/O address. If the assigned address starts at 300 then 300-30F would be required for the data acquisition board.
