After recalling the factory preset+ my screen went dark. What happened and how can I fix it?

Question :

After recalling the factory preset+ my screen went dark. What happened and how can I fix it?

Answer :

As these instruments age, their CRTs become dimmer over time and often people will correct for this dimming by increasing the CRT brightness periodically during the life of the instrument. When the factory preset is recalled, the factory default intensity is loaded which may be suitable for a new CRTbut is too dim for an aged one.

To increase the intensity without being able to see the CRT, simply press theCRTbutton to bring up the CRTmenu, then turn the second from the right knob (4th from the left) clockwise to increase the CRT intensity until you can clearly see a waveform. Then press the top bezel button to select the readout intensity setting, and adjust the same knob clockwise until you can read the on-screen text.
