Tektronix waveform monitors that use this display and the corresponding RGB limit detectors are detecting the valid signal limits for the RGB format. RGB is the format that virtually all display devices must ultimately convert to produce the colored image the video represents. The display device is only designed to accept RGB values within a given dynamic range. Light producing displays (CRTs) cannot make negative light. Therefore, no negative values of RGB are processed.
