Sweep: Is it possible to send a command to the SourceMeter that will interrupt the sweep?

Sweep: Is it possible to send a command to the SourceMeter that will interrupt the sweep?

Antwort:

Is it possible to send a command to the SourceMeter that will interrupt the sweep in progress?

There are several commands you can use to interrupt a sweep. You can send a SCPI abort (:ABORT) command, which will abort the sweep and return the SourceMeter to the IDLE state. No other settings will be affected. You can also use the low level GPIB Selective Device Clear (SDC) and Device Clear (DCL) commands. You generally send these commands to your GPIB card using low level transmit commands. These two commands will abort the sweep and return the SourceMeter to the IDLE state. No other settings will be affected. Note: These commands do not affect the state of the Output ON/OFF switch. If the Output is ON when one of these commands is sent, it will remain ON

You can also send a "*RST" or a ":SYSTEM:PRESET" command. These commands will interrupt the sweep, but they will also reset the instrument to its default conditions. These commands will turn the Output OFF.

When you use an ABORT, DCL or SDC command, both the Sample Buffer and the Trace Buffer (Data Store) are preserved and can be read after the sweep is aborted. If you use the "*RST" or "SYSTEM:PRESET" commands, data in the Sample Buffer is lost, but the contents of the Trace Buffer (Data Store) are preserved and can be read after the sweep is aborted. If you are storing data in the Trace buffer, the buffer will still be enabled when the sweep is interrupted with any of the above commands. Be sure to disable the buffer before attempting another sweep.

Note: All of above commands work reliably and immediately when the sweep is started using an INITIATE:IMMEDIATE command. If a "READ?" query is used to initiate the sweep, use the DCL or SDC commands
