How do I use "ping" to check if my TLA and my computer are connected correctly?

In Windows 2000 or Windows XP click on the "Start" button and select "Run". Type "cmd" in the box and click "Ok". At the prompt, type "ping" then a space, and then the name or IP address of the computer you are trying to test connection to.
