P5200 High Voltage Differential Probe Notice

For users of:

  • TPS2000 SERIES OSCILLOSCOPES OR
  • THS700 SERIES OSCILLOSCOPES/DMM OR
  • THS3000 OSCILLOSCOPE AND
  • P5200 HIGH VOLTAGE DIFFERENTIAL PROBE

Certain of the Tektronix TPS2000 Series oscilloscopes documentation incorrectly listed the Tektronix P5200 High Voltage Differential Probe as an optional accessory. The P5200 is not compatible with the TPS2000 Series oscilloscopes.

For safe operation, do not use the Tektronix P5200 High Voltage Differential Probe with any oscilloscope or other measurement instrument that has floating inputs (isolated inputs) such as the Tektronix TPS2000 Series Oscilloscopes, Tektronix THS700 Series Oscilloscopes or THS3000 oscilloscope. The P5200 High Voltage Differential Probe requires an oscilloscope or other measurement instrument with grounded inputs. The P5200 High Voltage Differential Probe is designed to use the BNC connector ground on the product to ensure that all accessible metal on the probe remains at ground potential. The BNC connectors on the channels of any oscilloscope or other measurement instrument that has floating inputs (such as the TPS2000 Series Oscilloscopes, THS700 Series Oscilloscopes or THS3000 oscilloscope) do not provide this ground connection.
