Release Notes for the RTX130A and RTX130B software patch, February 2007.

The file included in this release is a software patch for the Tektronix
RTX130A and RTX130B QAM and VSB RF Signal Generators. The patch resolves
a software bug related to 8VSB signals. Due to an issue in the Field
Segment Sync (FSS) area of the FPGA code, some 8VSB receivers could not
maintain a signal lock to the RTX130A/B output.

All instruments with FPGA code versions below 1.39 should install this
patch.

To verify the version of FPGA code installed in your instrument, perform
the following steps:

1. Configure the modulator for 8VSB output.

2. Select Status from the Utilities drop-down menu.

3. If the line QAM/8VSB(ATSC) has a code version less than 139, install
the software patch as described below.

To install the patch on your instrument, perform the following steps:

1. Copy the file named 8vsb.bit that was supplied in the Web-download
package to one of the following media types:
- RTX130A: CD or DVD
- RTX130B: USB memory drive

2. Insert the media containing the 8vsb.bit file into the appropriate
drive on your RTX130A or RTX130B.

3. Using Windows Explorer, copy the 8vsb.bit file from the media to the
following location on the hard drive of the instrument:
C:\Program files\Tektronix\MpegPlayer\rtx_config\8vsb.bit

4. Select Yes when asked to overwrite the existing file.

5. Reboot the instrument.

6. To verify that the new version of FPGA code is installed on your
instrument, perform the following steps:

a. Configure the modulator for 8VSB output.

b. Select Status from the Utilities drop-down menu.

c. Verify that the line QAM/8VSB(ATSC) has a HW version of 00 and
a Code version of 139.

NOTE: You must reapply this patch after you perform a software restore
to the instrument.
