International Standards

Supporting one or more international standard is a common requirement. MPEG-2 is the base foundation for all transport stream delivery methods. Building on top of MPEG-2 can include one or more additional standards. In the case of set top box design, it is often required to comply with several standards. Support for a wide variety of standards is provided through the use the scripts. The script files provide an easy method to update the analyzer as standards progress, as well as a simple means to create custom scripts for future standards and custom tests. The MTS400 Series supports many different international standards including the following:

MPEG-2 - ISO/IEC 13818

ATSC - Support for both terrestrial and cable is provided from: A65, A90, A52, A53, A54, and A57

DVB - Support for DVB is provided from ETSI TR 101 154, 101 162, 101 191, 101 290, 101 812 (MHP), ETSI EN 300 468 (SI), 300 472 (Teletext), and ETSI ETS 300 743 (sub-title). DVB also includes regional support for UK DTG, Nordig, and Australia.

Non-standard Streams - The Player/Recorder application provides support for streams that do not comply to ISO/IEC 13818-1 (Transport Streams). MPEG-2 transport streams are normally comprised of packet starting with a 0x47 byte with lengths of 188 or 204 bytes per packet. Non-standard streams can be recorded and played back.
