Can I Edit Waveforms On The AWG Using Instrument Commands?

Question :

Can I Edit Waveforms On The AWG Using Instrument Commands?

Answer :

It depends on which AWG you are using:

For AWG5000, AWG5000B, AWG7000, AWG7000B Series Instruments

Yes. These series of instruments have remote instrument commands to modify waveform lengths, sample values, and marker values.

For AWG2000, AWG400, AWG500, AWG600, AWG700, AWG700B Series Instruments

No. These series of instruments are lacking remote instrument commands to modify waveform lengths, sample values, or marker values. The best way to modify a waveform on these instruments is to copy the target waveform data onto the remote PC, preform the desired modifications, and then transfer the modified waveform back to the AWG. Alternatively, front panel buttons can be emulated via the ABSTOUCH commands. Using ABSTOUCH commands are not recommend because the interface state cannot be queried remotely.
