Tektronix TDS5000B Oscilloscope with MyScope Receives EDN Innovation Award
Readers and Editors of EDN Honor Tektronix TDS5000B for Innovation
BEAVERTON, Ore., March 16, 2005 - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that the TDS5000B family of digital phosphor oscilloscopes (DPO) with MyScope has received the EDN Innovation Award for the Test & Measurement category.
"Innovation is the heart and soul of engineering, and these awards demonstrate that the search for new technologies to improve quality of life is alive and well in the global semiconductor industry," said John Dodge, EDN editor in chief. "We applaud all the engineers who are dedicated to nurturing the spirit of discovery and invention."
"We are very honored by this industry recognition of the TDS5000B family," said Colin Shepard, Vice President, Oscilloscope Products, Tektronix, Inc. "This award from the editors and readers of EDN for the TDS5000B with MyScope is consistent with the many positive comments we have received from our customers. Innovation at Tektronix is a byproduct of listening to customer needs for greater engineering productivity. We will continue this tradition and hopefully win many more EDN Innovation awards."
The EDN Innovation program relies on a multitier selection process to choose finalists and winners. Working in panels organized by area of expertise, EDN's technical editors selected the finalists from a record number of deserving entries received during the fall nomination period. EDN published the list of finalists in the January 20, 2005, issue of EDN and on EDN.com. This year's nominated products must have introduced and commercially marketed those products in the 2004 calendar year.
During February, EDN's worldwide audience of electronics engineers and engineering managers voted at an online ballot. A combination of these reader votes, balloting by the EDN Editorial Advisory Board, and voting by EDN's full editorial staff determined the ultimate winners of the 15th Annual EDN Innovation Awards, which were announced in San Francisco on Monday, March 7, 2005.
TDS5000B: The World's Most Intuitive Mid-Range Performance Oscilloscope
MyScope functionality enables users to quickly and easily customize the oscilloscope to meet their unique requirements. Using a simple drag and drop procedure, users are able to pull all the oscilloscope features they use into a single half screen control window; allowing them to tailor the oscilloscope to their particular style or measurement task. Engineers can create a virtually unlimited number of custom MyScope control windows, enabling multiple users of a shared TDS5000B to each have their own custom interface.
MyScope control windows maximize efficiency in a user's day-to-day work by focusing their energy on the task at hand rather than navigating back and forth through multiple menus and submenus. Relearning how to use the oscilloscope after breaks from lab work is eliminated through the ability to save and reuse the customized control windows.

About the EDN Innovation Awards
Now in their 15th year, the EDN Innovation Awards honor the people, products, and technologies that have shaped the electronics industry over the past year. In addition to recognizing the innovators of today, the program also nurtures the award-winning designers of tomorrow through an annual contribution to engineering education. EDN donates a portion of the proceeds from the Innovation Awards ceremony to the engineering university of the Innovator of the Year's choice.
