MPEG Generator

In the lab, on the manufacturing floor or in the field you can quickly verify correct design operation and compliance to standards using a Tektronix portable MPEG Generator. A suite of test streams are provided on all MPEG generators and you can add Multiplexer software to create a complete stream creation and generation tool set to support a variety of applications.

  • Simulation of Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting Transmission
  • Integrated IPTV and Video Over IP Parametric Stream Generation with Support for IPv6
  • Migration from RF to IP interface technology
  • Hybrid STB testing with time stamped transport streams
  • ISDB-T & ISDB-TB consumer receiver design, manufacturing test and professional equipment evaluation
  • Performance verification of ISDB-T & ISDB-TB systems
  • Performance verification of MPEG systems

Measuring Video and Audio Quality of Experience (QoE)

This application note shows you how to objectively rate a program at different points in the network to understand and pinpoint when and where degradation has occurred.

Fact Sheet
A Guide to MPEG Fundamentals and Protocol Analysis

MPEG is one of the most popular audio/video compression techniques because it is not just a single standard. Instead, it is a range of standards suitable for different applications but based on similar principles. MPEG is an acronym for the Moving Picture Experts Group.

PCR Measurements Primer

Engineers and technicians who monitor or measure video parameters must have confidence in the results. We describe in this primer a new procedure for jitter measurements as recommended in TR 101 290.

Testing the MPEG2 Transport Stream

The protocols involved in iTV are very complex. A full understanding of them is necessary, not only to ensure that iTV can be delivered in a flexible way, but in a way that provides the responsiveness that a consumer expects and ultimately pays for.
