Getting back to basics with Dr. Cosmin Iorga and the TBS1202B-EDU oscilloscope

Thumbnail

Dr. Cosmin Iorga, a UCLA Extension instructor, recently published a series of articles on the element14 community describing the fundamental concepts of electric circuits and signals using the TBS1202B-EDU oscilloscope to demonstrate those concepts.

The TBS1000B-EDU digital oscilloscopes are designed specifically to meet the needs of today's schools and universities. It's the first oscilloscope to use an innovative new courseware system that enables educators to seamlessly integrate teaching materials onto TBS1000B-EDU oscilloscopes. Displayed on the scope itself, these materials include step-by-step instructions, background theory, hints and tips, and allow students to document their lab work. Designed to tackle today’s test challenges while preparing tomorrow’s engineers for the future, these scopes can be found in university engineering labs around the world.

Starting with a basics of circuit analysis post on Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Laws and how to view signals on an oscilloscope, Dr. Iorga goes on to explore such topics as capacitors, RC filters, inductors, inverting and non-inverting amplifiers and a comparison of analog vs. digital signals.

In parallel to publishing his Fundamental Concepts series, Dr. Iorga is working on other projects detailing his use of Tektronix oscilloscopes. His most recent posts detail work on Testing and Debugging the Brainwaves Appliance Controller using the TBS1202B, and participation as a finalist in the Tektronix sponsored Sudden Impact Wearables Design Challenge.

All of Dr. Iorga’s articles can be read on the element14 community site here.
