Inet Technologies Announces Enhanced VoIP Conformance Testing Solution
Spectra2 Version 3.3 Offers Comprehensive IP Conformance Testing Capabilities
Richardson, Texas, USA March 17, 2004 Inet Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: INTI), a leading global provider of communications software products that enable communications carriers to more strategically and profitably operate their businesses, today announced an upgrade to its Spectra2 diagnostics product that offers comprehensive Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) conformance testing capabilities for carriers, developers and equipment manufacturers.
Spectra2's conformance testing solution includes support for conformance with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Megaco, H.323 and MGCP protocols. Combined with Spectra2's ease-of-use and application integration, users are able to compress their testing and product development cycles, resulting in a faster time to market for new products and services. Spectra2 is easy to operate, reducing costs and employee downtime associated with product training. In addition, Spectra2 comes with packaged test suites and automation tools, thereby saving time and money on programming and test case development. Version 3.3 also includes new features that support automated scheduling of test scripts and generator models, as well as support for the IPv6 addressing format for all Spectra2 applications and VoIP protocols.
Conformance testing benefits equipment manufacturers and carriers by validating network elements against industry standards and confirming equipment interoperability. Inet established a leadership position in SS7 conformance testing with Spectra, which is known for its ease-of-use and dependability.
"Spectra2 leverages our experience and success with traditional telephony," said Elie Akilian, president and chief executive officer of Inet. "Spectra2 users will be able to verify product compliance, media quality and interoperability before going to market. Our goal is to make Spectra2 the gold standard in VoIP testing."
"Real-time applications such as voice and video are driving awareness and demand for testing IP communications," said George Hamilton, senior analyst, Enterprise Infrastructure at The Yankee Group. "Moreover, customers are learning that VoIP requires a testing discipline closer to the best practices' and methodologies set by the PSTN. Innovative services will not compensate for poor voice quality. In order for VoIP to be adopted, call quality must be equal to the PSTN."
Spectra2 is a comprehensive, fully integrated diagnostic testing solution for VoIP developers, carriers and equipment manufacturers. Spectra2 offers the ability to verify the performance of critical elements of next-generation networks such as media gateways, media gateway controllers, gatekeepers, and proxy servers, and to confirm delivery of the highest level of signaling and media quality.
