The "Web Application Interface for WXX7120" enables the user of a WVR71X0
series Waveform Rasterizer and WFM71X20 series Waveform Monitors to operate
the instrument from a remote workstation. The same application controls either
product.

Requirements
------------
The "Web Application Interface for WXX7120" requires Java Standard Runtime
Environment version 1.4.1 or later.  The Java runtime must already be
installed on your system in order to use the WXX7120 application. Please
visit http://java.com for the latest Java runtime software and installation
instructions.

The instrument connected to requires firmware version 5.0.4 or later.
If connecting to a WFM7100, WFM7000 or WFM6100, option FP must be installed.

Differences Between Web Application and Web Applet
--------------------------------------------------
When a remote use interface is started from the web page of a WXX71X0
series Waveform Rasterizer, your web browser downloads a Java applet from
the instrument and runs that applet within your web browser.  To maintain
the security of your computer, that applet is not allowed to perform
certain operations such as writing files to your hard disk.

However, a Java application, that has been installed on your local hard
disk or on your local network, may be trusted by your computer and is not
subject to the same limitations as an applet.  The WVR7100 Web Application
supports all of the features of the WXX7120 remote interface and adds the
capability to load and save instrument presets and snapshots to your hard disk

Installation
------------
Windows:
1.  Use WinZip or other ZIP file compression utility to extract the
contents of the zip file to a local hard disk.  This will create a new
folder which contains this read me file and the wvr7100.app folder.
2.  Copy the entire wvr7100.app folder to a location on a local hard disk
or in a network folder.
3.  Open the wvr7100.app folder.
4.  Create a shortcut for the run.bat file inside the wvr7100.app  directory
(right click and select "Create Shortcut")
5.  Rename the shortcut file to "wxx71x0".
6.  Move the shortcut file to the desktop or copy the shortcut to the start
menu.  The original run.bat file should remain in the wvr7100.app  folder.

Solaris & Linux:
1.  Use a ZIP file compression utility to extract the zip file.  This will
create a new directory which contains this read me file and the
wvr7100.app directory.
2.  Copy the file wvr7100.app/Contents/Resources/Java/wvr61x.jar to
directory within your home directory or a shared network directory.
3.  Edit the file run.sh and update the path of the JAR file with the path
of the file you just copied.  For example:
jarfile="/usr/local/lib/wvr7100/wvr61x.jar"
4.  Move or copy the run.sh file to a bin directory within your home
directory or a shared network directory.  The bin directory should be
included in your PATH.
5.  Rename the run.sh file to "wxx71x0".
6.  chmod 555 wvr7100

Mac OS X:
1.  If your web browser did not automatically extract the wxx71x0folder
from the ZIP file, open the ZIP file with StuffIt Extractor (double click)
2.  Open the wxx71x0 folder on your desktop or in your download directory.
The folder will contain this file and a wvr7100 application.
3.  Copy the wvr7100 application to your Application directory.

Uninstall
---------
1.  Delete the wvr7100.app folder, JAR file or wvr7100 application.
2.  Delete any additional files, shortcuts or folders that were created
during the installation process.

To Run
------
Windows:
Double click the wxx71x0 icon on the desktop or select wxx71x0 from the
Start Menu.

Unix/Linux:
Run the program wxx71x0

Mac OS X:
Double click the wvr7100 application

Known Problems
--------------

Mac OS X:

Problems with quitting web application.  Selecting "Quit" from the wxx71x0
menu (application menu) does not save settings.  Selecting "Exit" from the
File menu does not fully quit the application.  In order to save window
position and application state, First select "Exit" from the File menu and
then "Quit" from the application menu.  To quit without saving application
state, select "Quit" from the application menu.
