The USB-TX Automated Test Software is a Windows based application that runs on any Windows XP computer operating system including Tektronix Windows based instruments such as DPO/DSA/MSO 70000/70000B/70000C Series oscilloscopes.

TekExpress software (TEKEXP) ordered with option USB-TX provides an automated, simple, and efficient way to test USB 3.0 Transmitter hosts and devices consistent with the requirements of the SuperSpeed USB Electrical Compliance Test Specification.

In addition, the USB-TX integrating the DPOJET Option USB3 automates complete set of USB 3.0 physical layer normative and informative tests, enabling characterization, debug and analysis.

1. Introduction

The TekExpress USB application (Opt. USB-TX) is the automated version of USB3.0
measurements from DPOJET Timing and Analysis tool. With TekExpress USB, Tektronix
provides fully-automated Tx solution for verification,characterization, and debug.

The online help file included with the software contains the detailed information
on how to use the TekExpress USB application. This Readme file contains
additional information for the user.

3. TekExpress USB created changes on your system.
After first launch of "TekExpress USB.exe" following changes take place in your
computer.
a) "My TekExpress" folder is created under "My Documents" folder of current user
NOTE: If a user with new login ID launches "TekExpress USB.exe",
"My TekExpress" folder is created under "My Documents" of the new user.
b) "USB" folder is created under "My TekExpress" folder
c) "Untitled Session" folder is created under "USB" folder, note that
everytime "TekExpress USB.exe" is launched "Untitled Session" folder is
created under "USB" folder and will be deleted after proper termination
of application.
d) If user saves a session in TekExpress USB all session files are saved
under "USB" folder. Note that each session has multiple files associated
with it and do not tamper with any of the session file(s) and/or folder(s) this
may result in loss of data or corrupted session files.

4. Before you click "RUN"
a) If you are executing TekExpress application on PC other than the scope used
for testing then please ensure that the network connectivity is established
between the PC running the TekExpress and the scope. Map the shared
My TekExpress folder as X: (X drive) on scope instruments used in test setup
running Microsoft Windows Operating System. This share folder is used to save
the waveform files or any other file transfer operations.
b) Ensure that all the required instruments are properly warmed up, Signal Path
Compensation (SPC) is performed, followed by calibration and cable/Probe deskew.

7. Known Limitations

7.1 Installer related limitation
a) Installation of TekExpress and other software are installed on C: drive only.
b) User needs to have administrative privilege while installing the application.
c) The available free space on C: drive must be minimum 2.2GB.

7.2 TekExpress application related limitation
a) Test will be started only when all the instruments are available.
b) This version of TekExpress is qualified with TekVisa ver 3.3
- It is recommended to use this version of TekExpress with TekVisa 3.3
- If you intend to install TekExpress on Tek-instrument with lower version of
TekVisa then it is recommended to install TekVisa 3.3 on Tek-instrument.
c) The application is best viewed in super VGA resolution or higher video adapter
(800x600 minimum video resolution for small fonts or 1024x768 minimum video
resolution for large fonts) with 96 dpi display settings. If application is
running on instrument with lower resolution then it is recommended to use
secondary monitor.
d) During test execution if user pauses the execution and if user does any
changes in instrument setup then it is important that user restores the
instruments settings to same state before clicking "resume".
e) Need to have about 1 GB of hard disk space to save the session information.
f) When using the Prerecorded Waveform option,select only a waveform(.wfm) file.
g) When using the Prerecorded Waveform option,make sure the waveform(.wfm) file
are recalled from My TekExpress folder(X drive).
h) When using the Prerecorded Waveform option,the application checks for scope calibration.
i) When using the Prerecorded Waveform option,if more than 3 waveform appear.The user
should manually select the required waveforms before continuing with the test execution.
j) Pre-Recorded waveform will allow the user to change the previous run session in middle of
test execution.
k) Scope should be deskewed with bandwidth set to 13G for all channels before testing
l) If on a scope the X: is mapped as a Local disk and the user wishes to map X: to a shared
network location on a PC on which TekExpress is running, then the user will have to
manually unmap the Local Disk X: using the command (subst x: /d) from the command prompt
and then manually map the X: on scope to desired network location.
m) If the user wants to use the SigTest on a Win7 scope in Standard user mode,then the
security setting for the SigTest folder (installed location) and all sub folders should
be set as "full control" for the user.
n) If user wants to access the scope remotely which is running USB application,
it is recommended that they use VNC instead of Remote desktop.
o) User may encounter 'DESkey driver issue' on some machines, user gets a window "Files
Needed" asking the path for dk2usb.sys' file; When this dialog comes up, the user has
to type the path "C:\Windows\inf\DESKEY" and click OK. Now the driver should get
installed properly.
p) In 'Programmatic interface mode', server gets unlocked automatically after default timeout
of 30 minutes if no test execution happens.
q) When running USB-Tx tests,if no signal is connected, then during DPOJET Vertical autoset,
the DPOJET/scope may not respond since it waits for ever for a signal. If in between the signal
is connected, then the execution proceeds normally. To overcome this error, please ensure that
the signal is connected before starting the measurements.
r) It has been seen that sometimes even with valid signal, the DPOJET Autoset hangs.
This primarily happens if the user tries to access the scope graticule when autoset is
happening.Hence it is advised that the user does not access the scope graticule when DPOJET
Autoset is happening.

Minimum System Requirements

Processor		Pentium 4/M or equivalent processor.

Operating System	Windows XP with Service Pack 3 / Windows 7 with Servie Pack 1.

Memory			512 MB of memory.

Hard Disk		Approximately 2.2 GB of available hard-disk space for the recommended installation, which includes
full TekExpress installation and distributed components.

Display			Super VGA resolution or higher video adapter (800x600 minimum video resolution for small fonts
or 1024x768 minimum video resolution for large fonts). The application is best viewed at 96 dpi display settings.

This software download offers one test to run for each channel type in a gap of 30 minutes during free trails. A software security key may be purchased from Tektronix to permanently enable the software application.

Installation

Download the USB_4.1.0.45.zip file to your local windows desktop. Extract the contects to desktop. You will get the following files to the desktop when you unzip "USBWebinstaller_4.1.0.45.exe" and "USBTx_AWG_4.0.0.1.exe".

1 TekExpress USB

i.  Double click the self extracting executable USBWebinstaller_4.1.0.45.exe to your local Windows desktop

ii. Run the program on your Desktop. After the installation completes Select "Restart" to reboot the machine. The machine must reboot to complete the installation process.

iV.Once the application in successfully installed, remove the downloaded executable file from your Desktop.

V.TekExpress USB shortcut is created on the desktop. Launch  TekExpress USB.exe by double-click on it. Once the application launches go to Help on the Menu tab and select About TekExpress. In About TekExPress click on License info,where the user has to enter the license info. This information is also available in the help document provided with this application under section "How To Activate the License"

2 TekExpress USBTx AWG Pattern to help toggle from CP0 to CP1 automatically when using an AWG.

i. On AWG local hard-drive download USBTx_AWG_4.0.0.1.exe for AWG7122B, AWG7122C or AWG7102.

ii. Run the downloaded program, this will extract the patterns on AWG local hard-drive. After the installation completes user can remove the above EXE file from local hard-drive.
