I bought one of these to use as my personal scope to replace both of my aging THS700 series portable and my TDS2000 bench scope (both have served me very well over the past 10 years). it was a little pricy (for a personal scope) after buying differential probes (I need floating capability for power measurements which my THS730A had built in), but it has the EXACT same capability (for what I am doing with it) as my DPO4054 lab setup for a fraction of the price. I got this with the nylon/cordura carry bag, and everything fits neatly inside. Footprint wise, its not a lot bigger, harder to carry, or less durable than a TDS2000 seres, but has EVERYTHING, the screen is amazing on this thing, serial decode, 4 channels, 350Mhz is way more than I use for power electronics and embedded debug. I just wish the TekVPI high voltage differential probes were available when I bought this unit, since I am currently using it with P5200A's that require a separate power supply per probe. This thing has really cool programmable probe scaling and deskew as well which is awesome for looking at turn on characteristics of IGBT's and peak power with voltage and current displayed side by side.

I have DPO4000's in my lab, and love them, if you have never used a scope with wave inspector, you don't know what you are missing. My only complaint about the DPO4k series was the price, which left me with a ton of TDS2000's scattered around my facility for general usage. Then this thing came along and has 90% of the capability of the DPO4000 series at nearly half the price, and 350Mhz of bandwidth covers more than the 95% sage of all our oscilloscope needs (power electronics, embedded development, video, analog, etc#. This thing has a form factor and portability on par with a TDS2000 series scope, awesome real time performance, and deep memory capability. At the price point of this unit with its feature set, it will be really difficult to justify the cost to "step up" to a DPO4000 series. I have started swapping most of our aging TDS2000's out to this model, and have not heard any complaints yet. Screen is beautiful. All power and serial decode options available to a higher end bench instrument are available on this unit. This is definately my favorite in the tek lineup. I own almost every product under 1ghz they make, AFG's, scopes, power supplies, etc. I have been using tek scopes for > 20 years #my first was a 485#, and this is the first I have been excited about in a long time, tek really got it right with this one.

Tektronix has not let me down with this new purchase of the DPO3034. The performance is exemplary and the ease of using all of the features and functions intuitively, greatly aided in my coming to up to speed with my new test bench. The abilitiy to select feature and function from a wide range of options allowed for the best use of my investment.
