Tektronix Donates Electronic Test Equipment to Portland State University

Donations Highlight Tektronix Commitment to Supporting Oregon Communities, Higher Education

BEAVERTON, Ore., February 12, 2013 - Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, today announced that it has made a sizeable donation of more than $22,000 of equipment to the Fariborz Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University (PSU). The donated equipment included oscilloscopes, probes, an arbitrary/function generator, a digital multimeter and laboratory grade power supplies. The tools provided through this donation will be used to outfit engineering and science laboratories and classrooms at Oregon's largest and fastest growing university.

"As electronic systems continue to play an increasing role in our lives, it's critical to have a steady stream of electrical engineers entering the workforce here in Oregon with the hands-on experience they need to design, test and deploy these systems," said Dr. Kevin Ilcisin, Chief Technology Officer, Tektronix. "Tektronix has forged strong bonds with local universities such as PSU to ensure that students have classroom access to the same advanced tools they will be using in the workplace."

The equipment donated to PSU included five TDS20134C oscilloscopes, an AFG3012 Function Generator, one DMM4020 Digital Multimeter, and seven Keithley Model 2220-30-1 Programmable Triple Channel DC Power Supplies. As part of the donation package, PSU also purchased 10 TDS2014C oscilloscopes, seven AFG3012 units and 10 DMM4020 digital multimeters. In addition, Tektronix recently donated six A621 Current Probes to accompany PSU's purchase of six TPS2012B Oscilloscopes through Tektronix partner TestEquity

"Having a company like Tektronix, a true leader in the world of electronics engineering and testing, in our local community is a significant advantage for the university and our students," said Dr. James McNames, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Chair at PSU. "We greatly appreciate this latest contribution and the thriving partnership and support we have enjoyed with Tektronix over the years."
The Fariborz Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University evolved in parallel with the growth of the high-tech industry in Oregon and is poised to become the state's premier engineering school. More than 2,200 students are currently enrolled in programs that lead to undergraduate and graduate degrees in disciplines such as Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering and Technology Management, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Systems Engineering and Computer Science.
