VM700T Option 30

The VM700T Option 30 provides the capability to measure component analog video parameters for either 525/60 or 625/50 systems.

Option 30 provides a full complement of component analog video measurements and displays. All measurements provide numerical results which are available through the remote control interface. Like other VM700T video measurements, Option 30 measurements provide the relative to reference mode for factoring out connection anomalies and improved accuracy. The VM700T can be easily configured for Y/R-Y/B-Y or GBR formats.

The Bowtie measurement uses the Bowtie test signal available in the TSG130A, the TSG131A and the TSG371 to calculate and display the timing and amplitude differences between the Y and B-Y channels and the Y and R-Y channels.

The Lightning measurement uses the Color Bar signal to create a display similar to the WFM300A Component/Composite Waveform Monitor display. In addition, it provides numerical readouts of the peak-to-peak amplitude for B-Y and R-Y peak white amplitude and chrominance to luminance delay.

The Parade measurement provides simultaneous displays of all three channels next to one another. Individual amplitude cursors can be enabled for measuring the amplitude of each channel.

The Overlay measurement provides a simultaneous display of all three channels overlaid on each other. Individual timing cursors can be enabled for measuring time differences between the channels.

The Vector display provides a conventional vector display of the color difference channels or RGB. The display is useful as a quick check of color transitions.

The Color Bar application provides amplitude measurements of the different colors for all three channels. These measurements are displayed numerically and graphically on three separate graticules. The application is compatible with the industry standard color bar signals.

The K-Factor application measures and displays the 2T through 10T K-Factor using a standard graticule or a user defined graticule for all three channels. The half-amplitude duration reference for each channel is user selectable through the Component configuration file. The measurement supports both positive and negative pulses. The measurement also displays the Pulse-to-bar K-Factor and the measured half-amplitude duration.

The Multiburst application measures and displays the amplitude of each frequency packet on a multiburst test signal for all three channels. The measurement is easily configured via soft keys to work with most multiburst signals.

The Luminance Non-linearity application measures and displays the difference between the maximum and minimum step size of a staircase or ramp signal. The measurement uses a hardware differentiating filter to evaluate the relative step sizes.

The Channel-delay application measures and displays the delay between all three channels. The three results are displayed on three simultaneous bar graphs which can be read easily from a distance. The measurement uses the bowtie signal.

The Level Meter application measures video level of all three channels and displays them on three simultaneous bar graphs. An additional bar graph indicates the sync amplitude for channel A. This latter bar graph can also be easily configured via soft keys to measure any other part of the signal on channel A.

The Noise application measures the signal-to-noise ratio of all three channels simultaneously. In addition, a spectral display of one of the three channels is always displayed. Although the measurement should be performed on a pedestal, the user can elect to measure any signal and analyze its frequency spectrum. The user can also select from a variety of weighting filters.

All Option 30 measurements support the 067-1429-00 Probe Adapter through a selection in the component configuration file.

A "Wait Color Bar" application can be used to synchronize VTR measurements with Function playback.

All measurements operate asynchronously making them ideal for testing consumer video recorders, which usually do not have time base correctors.
