TekExpress 10GBASE-T Automated Compliance Software

Power Spectral Density Measurement.
The XGbT software provides compliance results for measurements covered under subclause 55.5.3 and 55.8.2.1 of IEEE Standard 802.3an-2006. XGbT is based on the TekExpress framework and performs spectral-based measurements, such as Power Spectral Density (PSD), Power Level, and Linearity, all with a simplified instrument configuration. The 10GBASE-T solution consists of the XGbT compliance software along with a DPO/DSA/MSO70000 Series oscilloscope, allowing you to execute the 10GBASE-T physical-layer (PHY) electrical tests as per 802.3an-2006 standard.
Simplified Instrument Setup – Save Time and Resources
Setup and test execution is simple with the XGbT software. The oscilloscope acquisition and analysis are all controlled through the TekExpress automation framework. The XGbT software provides a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and an intuitive workflow through setup and testing. All measurement analysis, including time- and frequency-domain tests, are performed with a single instrument enabling more efficient use of resources and shorter design cycles.
Four-channel Support

Four-channel Support.
Engineers can perform measurements on all four channels of the scope, significantly reducing test time.
Differential or Single-ended Acquisition Support

Differential and Single-ended Support.
The XGbT testing solution supports signal acquisition and analysis with either matched-pair SMA cabling or differential probes.
Margin Testing

Droop Configuration Parameters.
Design characterization is supported beyond IEEE compliance requirements for Droop, Power Spectral Density, and Linearity measurements. Qualify your PHY with flexible control over test configurations such as analysis windows and other parameters.
Instrument Bench Discovery

Instrument Bench Discovery.
The XGbT software automatically scans and detects supported instruments connected in your test bench (both Visa supported and non-Visa supported instruments), whether they are connected through LAN, GPIB, or USB. A quick check of the Instrument Bench menu confirms all instruments are networked correctly. In addition, you can operate the XGbT software on an external PC and remotely control the instruments, saving time and resources.
One-button Testing
To simplify 10GBASE-T testing, the XGbT software provides a single Run button to perform the selected test suite specified by the IEEE 802.3an-2006 standard. This approach improves consistency of measurement approach, giving you reliable test results in a workgroup or multipass test environment.
Automation/LabVIEW Support
Save and recall setup files in your automation script, with an option to automate your test bench. You can call the XGbT application programmatically through NI LabVIEW or NI TestStand™ for controlling the test software along with instrumentation like thermal chambers and power supplies.
Pass/Fail Report

Pass/Fail Report.
The XGbT software includes a summary-reporting capability of all lanes in .MHT (MHTML) format with Pass/Fail status. This reporting is automatically generated after the tests are complete. A detailed report for each lane is provided which includes test configuration details, waveform plots, and margin analysis.
Return Loss

Return Loss.
The XGbT testing solution provides an oscilloscope-based Return Loss mechanism. Tektronix and a few customers have validated the Return Loss mechanism and found the results match very well with VNA. XGbT Return Loss measurements also support prerecorded waveforms. Calibration data for Open, Load, and Short can be stored in a file and recalled.
Complete Programming Interface

Complete Programming Interface.
XGbT provides complete Programming Interface support including fine-grain PI support such as performing individual measurements, configuring each measurement, storing data from reports, etc. Customers can now embedded their XGbT-based function call with other T&M equipment function calls.
Prerecorded Waveform

Prerecorded Waveform.
Prerecorded Waveform support will provide customers an option to use prerecorded waveforms when an oscilloscope is not available. This feature allows waveforms to be shared across multiple locations and removes end-user dependency from using scopes all the time.
MDIO Automation

MDIO Automation.
Those who have worked on ET3 solutions (10/100/1000BASE-T Compliance solutions) will also have wanted to be able to put the DUT in test mode and then perform required testing automatically. XGbT provides a solution for that using IEEE MDIO interface pins available on a customer's DUT.
