BA1500 Software

Introduction
Welcome to the BA1500 Software Release Notes.  This document tracks the changes for each BA1500 Software Release.  Included in these release notes are details on all new features and enhancements, a list of resolved issues, and pointers for upgrading and error reporting.

Error Reporting
If you encounter a problem, please notify us with a problem report.  Please include all instrument settings and a detailed account of the steps leading up to the problem.  If you can reproduce the problem, please note that as well.

If possible, please attach the BERTScope Software configuration file to the report.  In the BERTScope PC Software, use Config -> Save Configuration to save the current configuration (the software will prompt for a filename).  Configuration files are stored in D:\Bitalyzer\Configurations and have a .cfg extension.  Please also attach the ISMsgs.log file.  This file can be found in the C:\ root directory.

BitAlyzer (TM) BA1500 Version 7.4 Software Upgrade

Step 1: -Make sure there is a network connection and a browser to connect to the Internet installed
on the BERTScope.

Step 2: Download the self-extracting executable file from the SyntheSys Research website.

-Browse to http://www.synthesysresearch.com/Support/Software/BA1500/

-Click on BA1500_Version_7_4.exe

-In the File Download dialog, choose "Save". Then select a known local directory, and
click the "Save" button. This downloads and saves the self-extracting executable
BA1500_Version_7_4.exe file to that local directory.

Step 3:	Uninstall your current version of the software.

-Make sure that the software is NOT running. If it is, click Shutdown->Exit Application->Yes
to shut it down.

-In Windows, click Start->Settings->Control Panel. Double-click on "Add/Remove Programs". In
the properties dialog, select BitAlyzer and click the "Add/Remove..." button. In the next
dialog, click on the "Yes" button.

-This launches the InstallShield to uninstall the application. When InstallShield brings up
the "Remove Shared Files?" dialog, click the "Yes to All" button, and then the "Yes" button
in the next dialog. The uninstall should then continue automatically.

-After uninstalling the application, reboot the machine.

Step 4:	Install the new version of the software.

-Browse to the directory where you have saved the BA1500_Version_7_4.exe file.

-Double-click the file. This produces a dialog asking, "Install BA1500 software version
7.4?" Click "Yes" to launch the installation program.

-Click "Next" on the first Welcome dialog. The setup then runs to finish. Click the "Finish"
button.

-This installs the new software, and the machine will reboot. After rebooting, the new
software starts automatically.
